Crystal repair guide
how to repair your crystal-embellished items
Quick Fix Repair Instructions
In the very unfortunate event that a crystal becomes loose or dislodged/lost, there is a very easy way to reapply it, no experience is necessary just a little care and precision.
The only items you will require are:
- Cocktail sticks x 2
- Blu-tack
- Any white gem glue that dries clear (Not Bostik or Superglue)
- Small top or lid to squeeze some glue into.
- Firstly, pull off a very tiny bit of Blutack the size of a small bead.
- Shape this around your cocktail stick so you end up with a pointed end. This is to enable you to pick up the flatback crystal. (Shape should resemble the tip of a pen)
- Using a second cocktail stick dip the end into your glue, this should give you a small amount of glue to cover the back of the crystal when placed down into place. Too much glue will spread and overlap with the crystal itself. Therefore, just a small slightly raised dot will do the job.
- Apply the glue to the place where the crystal is missing.
- Using your Blu-tack-tipped cocktail stick, press the end firmly onto the crystal front and lift and place onto the empty space.
- Do not fiddle or try to move the crystal once it is in place, just leave this to dry overnight or you will spread the glue over other crystals and other parts of the material.
